Well done to our first golden moment winners

Staff at Springhill Care Group are being given the chance submit their ‘golden moments’ to be entered into an exciting new wellbeing initiative.

As part of the Oomph! Wellness support programme Springhill Care are pleased to have launched this initiative to encourage and share great moments within the care home environment.

The first winners drawn were: Emma (Birch Green Care Home, Skelmersdale), Shannon (Riversway Nursing Home, Bristol) and Neelum & Ruslana (Springhill Care Home, Accrington).

Donna Briggs, Managing Director of the care group, said: “Golden Tickets showcase really special moments that our teams share with residents, which might otherwise not be truly celebrated or recorded, this will help to ensure we capture these special moments and to help acknowledge and praise our staff team.”

The scheme launched in November and staff are being reminded of how they can nominate.

Donna added: “Take note of a golden moment that you have had with a resident or if you have seen a colleague have a golden moment take note and write it on the golden ticket. Put your ticket into the golden post box – all golden moments will be placed in a draw.”

The winner will be selected and given £150 and a certificate.

Matt Hamblin, Senior Business manager at Oomph! Wellness said: "The Golden ticket initiative is a fantastic way to showcase those meaningful interactions that happen in the care home every single day.
“These golden moments should be celebrated and shared with the families and friends of the residents, they are great examples of person-centred activities staff have shared with their loved ones.

“Springhill Care Group have really grasped this concept and made it their own! Congratulations to all the winners."

Oomph is the way forward!

Exercise sessions are still going strong here at Riversway Nursing Home. The popular Oomph sessions are fantastic and are a great way to start the day.

These interactive sessions run every morning and are a part of our residents’ exercise regime. During these classes we have a giggle and a laugh, a perfect way to start our day.

The programme also includes a series of skills workshops, including Oomph Sport which aim to make exercise as engaging as possible, to encourage inactive residents to take up physical activity and try something new – or rediscover lost passions.

Lets stretch one two three....

Christmas carols and cupcakes

Recently here at Riversway Nursing Home, whilst sat chatting and sampling lots of delicious cupcakes, we all had a lovely time singing Christmas carols together.

With ‘O come all ye faithful’ and ‘Ding dong merrily on high’ drifting around the home and the sound of tambourines and laughter, soon everyone was joining in and happily singing along with us, spreading the Christmas cheer around our home.

It was a wonderful festive afternoon.

Christmas fun at Riversway

A team of caring volunteers from Bristol law firm Burges Salmon stopped by recently to help us enjoy a day of Christmas activities.

The fun visit included decorating gingerbread men and houses, making paper chains and decorating the Christmas tree. The team was wonderful and enjoyed mince pies with residents, along with plenty of stories and laughs.

We’re so grateful to the ladies who came to make this day so special – the gingerbread men now have pride of place on the tree.

Christmas party time for one and all

We all had a wonderful time at our Riversway Christmas party!

Residents, their families and friends and our staff team were treated to festivities galore and we even had a visit from father Christmas who gave out presents in his new secret santa grotto!

The party started with balloon modelling in the morning, followed by a professional face painter creating some lovely body art designs on us.

We had lots of great music to listen to and live entertainment with the one and only Andy T, we were able to sing along and have a jolly old time!

There was plenty of festive food and drink to choose from and we had a giggle with the staff dressed up as santa’s little elves.

The Christmas visit from Noodles (Pet Therapy Dog) wearing a festive bow tie brightened up everyone’s day and there were lots of smiles around.

Well done to Brenda, (Hazel’s daughter) who won the Christmas hamper with lots of goodies and all those who won raffle prizes at the Christmas raffle.

Last but not least, congratulations and a huge THANK YOU to all staff, relatives and volunteers for making our Christmas party at Riversway Nursing Home so special!
