Riversway Nursing Home is helping to celebrate a very special birthday – resident Olive Probert turns 100.
Olive, who spent much of her life in the Barton Hill area of Bristol, was joined by family members including two of her nephews for a party at Riversway.
The celebration included a visit by the local Salvation Army band who played some musical numbers to mark the occasion – arranged by staff at the home.
Both Olive and her husband Walter – now deceased – both worked for the historic printing firm Mardon’s in Bristol. At one point the couple lived in a home very close to Riversway’s location.
Nephew David Watts, of Warmley near Bristol, said Olive, who has no children, was looking forward to the party.
He said: “She always says she doesn’t know where the years have gone, and we joke with her that she must have enjoyed them to have had such a long and happy life!”
To mark the occasion staff decorated the home with balloons and presented Olive with a bunch of flowers and a cake.
