Services get animated at Riversway

on .

Faith is very important to many of our residents at Riversway Nursing Home, and every Monday morning we hold a beautiful service for all.

Volunteer Mary joins us to pray, sing and play the piano, and recently brought in a number of instruments and scarfs to help residents join in.

It was a lovely, popular service with plenty of our residents getting engaged in playing music.

Creating fun with our hands

on .

The rain may come and go at Riversway but the activities just keep on rolling. Although it was a a wet day outside, we stayed dry inside and made two different sensory dough items and modelled them with some tools and our hands. One of them was also smelling mint!

People had fun building and making or simply touching - someone also eating - with these soft squiggly materials!

Flower power at Riversway

on .

The garden here at Riversway Nursing Home is one of our favourite spots when we have sunny weather.

We’ve all taken good care of it, preparing flowers and plants, keeping them trimmed and waters, and simply enjoying the space.

Recently we decided we needed to replace the old daffodils and other blooms with a new collection including marigolds to make sure we have lovely flowers to admire this year.

A number of residents got stuck in to help, and to sit and enjoy the spring sun. We can’t wait to spend time in the garden with our new flowers this summer.

Meal with a view

on .

A group from Riversway recently enjoyed a trip out to enjoy a meal at one of the best locations in Bristol.

Our party sat for pizza and wine at a café overlooking the famous suspension bridge and enjoying the warmth on the beautiful terraces.

David, one of the residents who accompanied us, had been to the lovely spot several times in the past, so the visit brought back plenty of memories.

We can’t wait to come back.

Our group sees historic ship at first hand

on .

A fantastic day was had by a small group from Riversway to see the historic SS Great Britain museum ship moored at our Bristol dock.

We went with Brian, Roy, and Maude and we all had a lovely day trip to the dry dock. We saw many interesting items and we loved the view from the ship deck, we even dreamed of being in the Titanic movie, just for a moment!  Brian took the wheel for a short time, he really enjoyed that!

SS Great Britain is a museum ship and former passenger steamship, which was advanced for her time and she was the longest passenger ship in the world from 1845 to 1854, and she was the first iron steamer to cross the Atlantic, which she did in 1845, in the time of 14 days..

It's great to see Brunel's SS Great Britain and 'discover the ship that changed the world'.
